Presentation of a new UNIDO’s project proposal in the scope of Global Environment Facility Programme
2nd July 2018, the workshop was held at the Conference Hall of the National Academy of Sciences where the UNIDO’s project proposal was presented for Global Clean Technology Innovation for SMEs Programme in the framework of Global Environment Facility (GEF). The workshop was attended by the representatives of UNIDO’s Headquarters, authorized representatives of the Ministry of Ecology, State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, State Finance Institution for Innovations as well as the consulting companies, the NGOs, in particular, Greencubator.
The Project is supposed to start in autumn 2018 and last for 3 years.
Mr. Carlos Shanduvi-Suarez, the Senior Coordinator, in his presentation outlined the GCIP’s key goals and objectives in Ukraine and articulated what kind of support is expected from the Government of Ukraine to launch the initiative. In its turn, Mr. Andreas Karner, the International Expert, presented the GCIP’s principal ideas, goals and components and mechanisms for its implementation in Ukraine.
Mr. Igor Kyrylchuk, National Coordinator, UNIDO/GEF Project, in his speech accented this Project is important for Ukraine as it would facilitate launching the generation of new innovative ideas and projects in Ukraine and give the opportunity to implement them.
The workshop participants discussed potential risks and benefits of the project implementation. Besides that the stakeholders deliberated on the details of cooperation between the governmental agencies and institutions under the UNIDO/GEF Project and what kind of assistance and support they can provide to each other.
The participants expressed their hopes in their final speeches the Project would enable finding sound projects to facilitate innovative and energy efficient development of the enterprises and the country in general.
