Biodiesel fuel production capacity amounts to 250 ths. t per year. There are about ten powerful producers. The largest of them are the following: “Oriana-Galev” (Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, the production capacity is 180 ths. t of biodiesel per year), “Liber” (Kherson, the production capacity is 10 ths. t), “BiopalyvnaKompaniia” (“Biofuel Company”) (Saky, Crimea, the production capacity is 5 ths. t), OJSC “Stirol” (Horlivka, Donetsk Oblast, the production capacity is 10 ths. t), and “ATP1062” (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, the production capacity is 10 ths. t). None of the plants fully operate for today. In 2009, only OJSC “Stirol” turned out several hundreds of tons of products for its own needs. The remaining companies posted a small-scale yield required for certification. Also, about 300 small biodiesel facilities with a capacity ranging between 50 and 500 tons per year are installed at farming enterprises in Ukraine. Such situation has been reasoned by the sharp one-and-a-half growth of prices for raw material (rape seeds) in autumn 2008, and an oil products pricing scheme, in particular, low excise duties, whereupon the biodiesel can hardly compete with its mineral equivalents in retail prices.
