Green bonds in Ukraine
O On 10th of July 2018, the Project UNIDO/GEF in cooperation with the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine organized the roundtable discussion on the future of “green” bond market in Ukraine. The participants discussed the world tendency of “green” bond issuance and perspectives of the implementation of this green financial instrument in Ukraine.
The Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Sergiy Savchuk delivered a speech about the vision of the Ukrainian government on introducing the “green” bonds market in Ukraine.
International experts have been represented by Selena Vento the Senior Relationship Manager of the international organization Climate Bonds Initiative, Martin Dashek the Senior Specialist in climate finance of International Financial Corporation and Iñigo Arencibia González the Specialist of the Energy Sector of European Investment Bank.
During the discussion, the participants emphasized on the main possible benefits of the Ukrainian "green" bond market and debated on the major challenges that could be faced by potential issuers of green bonds in Ukraine.
As a result of the roundtable, it was agreed to organize a platform that will unite all stakeholder in order to develop system solutions for the launching "green" bond market in Ukraine.
